The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal GV.̴Ì_The first world war saw the greatest number of CGMs awarded (110) and the only bar ever awarded to the CGM was awarded to Arthur Robert Blore who had been awarded the CGM in Gallipoli and his bar in France.̴Ì_
Along with the Edward VII issue, there have only been two awards of the CGM during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
CPO Diver Philip Hammond RN for services during the Gulf War of 1990-91, and the posthumous award made to SSgt James Prescott of the Royal Engineers for the South Atlantic in 1982.
The award was discontinued in 1993 and replaced by the CGC.
